An US teenager is facing life in prison after being charged with raping Kenyan orphans at Upendo Children’s home in Nairobi. Mathew Lane Durham who volunteered at the home was arrested and charged by FBI agents for allegedly sexually assaulting several children at the home.
According to a statement on the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) website, Durham who is aged 19 years was arrested at his home in Edmond, Oklahoma on July 17, Thursday and charged on Friday with engaging in “illicit sexual conduct with underage children.”
The statement said that Durham was a volunteer at the Upendo Children’s Home in Nairobi founded by an American citizen also from Edmond where the accused resides.
Durham volunteered with Upendo during the periods June 2012 and December 2013, and again from April 30 to June 17, 2014.
It is alleged that on his last trip to Kenya, Durham insisted on staying at the children’s home in an “overflow bunk” rather than at an offsite facility with a sponsor family where he stayed on prior visits. He allegedly committed the offence from April to June 2014.
Durham is accused of engaging in sexual acts with multiple children, both male and female ranging from ages 4 to 10.
The Office of the US Attorney said he is currently being held without bond and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 1.

That home and its administrators should be sued for allowing a child molester to mingle with defenseless orphans. Good thing he is facing life in prison while in Kenya the same offense warrants cutting grass, blaming the victim and finger pointing.
