Acting CS for Interior Security, Fred Matiang’i has assured Kenyans and guests on the government’s commitment to safeguard their lives and property.

Matiang’i maintains that enough security officers have been deployed throughout the country and that more police officers are on standby should they be required in any part of the country.

In a press release, he said that all electoral malpractices suspects that have been observed and reported have been arrested and will be brought to book.

The CS also noted that security was beefed up along the borders deterring terrorists from disrupting the elections.

Four terror suspects have however been arrested and arraigned in court.

He also condemned international media houses that have misled the public and international community by using images and videos from 2007 to create an impression of insecurity in the country.

Matiang’i also urged the media to seek clarification and verification from authorities before publishing any security related information so as not to raise alarm and tension in the country.

He in the same breath acknowledged the positive observer reports that have recognized the efforts of the Kenyan people and security agencies to hold peaceful elections.

He urged Kenyans to resume their daily activities since calm has returned in the country.
