Acting interior CS ,Matiang’i has warned Kenyans against resorting to violent demonstrations as witnessed in Kisumu, Kibera and Mathare.
He said the country was generally safe apart from the mentioned areas.
Matiang’i said that those who lost had a right to protest as long as the did it within the constraints of the law.
He warned those with criminal intent that they would face the law in its full force as the police would be on guard to safeguard peoples lives and property
He applauded mainstream media for consulting before releasing unverified information but blamed social media for the spread of all footage .

The acting CS said that those caught sharing such footage will be arrested.
Matiang’i disputed claims that people had been killed by police saying that were not using live bullets to handle the demonstrations.
