Police in Nzambani Sub-County, Kitui County, are investigating the death of a 31-year-old man who had been reported missing before his body was discovered in a remote area on Thursday morning.

The deceased, identified as Musyoka Mulwa, had reportedly gone missing on June 9. A missing person report was subsequently filed at Thua Police Post on June 10.

According to police, the incident was reported at about 8 a.m. after the deceased’s father discovered his son’s body lying lifeless.

Police suspect that Musyoka may have fallen from a tree while harvesting honey from a beehive, resulting in fatal injuries. Investigators noted that the circumstances at the scene were consistent with an accidental fall, although inquiries remain ongoing.

Crime scene personnel processed and documented the area before the body was removed to the Kitui Funeral Home, where it is being preserved pending a post-mortem examination.

Police said investigations will continue to establish the exact cause of death.

Meanwhile, police in Lower Yatta Sub-County, Kitui County, have launched investigations into the brutal killing of a 40-year-old man whose body was discovered at B2 Ranch on Thursday morning.

The incident was reported to Kanyonyoo Police Station. Police officers rushed to the scene and found the lifeless body of Josphat Maingi Matiti.

Preliminary investigations revealed signs of a violent struggle at the scene. Police established that the victim had been fatally attacked and his head severed. His motorcycle was also found off the road near the scene, suggesting a violent confrontation before the killing.

Investigators suspect the murder could be linked to an ongoing land dispute, although the exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

The body was moved to Kitui County Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation and a post-mortem examination.

Police have launched a manhunt for those responsible as detectives continue to gather evidence and establish the motive behind the killing.
