Detectives are investigating the murder of a woman aged 80 whose body was found in a ditch full of water after she went missing in a village in Maralal, Samburu County.
Police said the incident happened on Tuesday in Kisima village and involved one Sision Lepukunyu. Her sons said they had left her in her house on Monday January 5 for errands but when they came back she was missing.
This prompted a search that led them to a ditch near Lotulo airstrip where her body was found.
The body had injuries on the left side of the head and neck.
The motive of the murder was not immediately established, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary for autopsy and other procedures.
Elsewhere in Mirangine, Nyandarua County, a minor drowned in a family well at a homestead.
The body of the three-year-old girl was retrieved from the well after she dropped there and drowned.
The girl was playing with other children in the compound in Kihuho area when she slipped and fell into the water.
Locals responded and rescued her but it was too late. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
And police in Ithanga, Muranga County are investigating the sudden death of a minor at a home. Police linked the death to a cultism which has been spreading in the area. The minor died in a home on January 2 and the family is believed to be following the Kavonokya religion which does not believe in medicine of any nature when one falls sick.
The body of the minor was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures. Occultism is rampant in the area and has claimed dozens of lives.
Elsewhere in Laini Saba, Kibera, Nairobi, police are investigating the sudden death of the ODM chairman in Laini Saba ward, Kibra constituency.
Police said Ken Otieno Agalo, 42 fell ill on Tuesday January 6 while at a friend’s house in Kabiria in Riruta and was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police said the man had vomited and had nosebleed.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.
