Sigona Golf Club’s Mohit Mediratta is eyeing another strong performance as the second leg of the PGK Equator Tour tees off at Thika Sports Club from May 21 to May 24.

Mohit heads into the tournament with confidence after emerging as the overall winner during the opening leg of the second edition of the tour held at Vet Lab Sports Club in April. His impressive display included a memorable hole-in-one that helped propel him to victory.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, the Safaricom-backed golfer acknowledged the challenge of maintaining his lead amid stiff competition but expressed optimism about his chances.

“I am keen to continue with the strong performance as we head to the second leg of the PGK Tour this week. The pressure is there, but I am looking forward to the challenge. As part of the corporate team supported by Safaricom, I am hopeful that we will retain the top corporate title,” said Mohit.

Mohit is expected to face competition from fellow Safaricom-backed golfers Mutahi Kibugu, Samuel Njoroge, and Matthew Wahome, who will also be seeking strong finishes in Thika.

Now in its second edition, the PGK Equator Tour continues to provide a vital platform for the development of professional golf in Kenya. The series forms part of the pathway toward qualification for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and also serves as a pre-qualifier for players targeting slots at the Magical Kenya Open.

More than 50 professional golfers are expected to participate in the Thika leg as they compete for top honours, including the corporate category title.

The second edition of the PGK Equator Tour began in April and will run through to February 2027, when the grand finale is scheduled to take place.
