Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho meeting with members of Kikuyu community failed to take off for the third time as the Mombasa governor continue to face hostility among various upcountry communities.

Joho has been silently seeking support of the group.

Joho regime is accused of isolating people not originally from Mombasa on account of their ethnicity, even as he ring fences opportunities for a very small click of friends and families related to him and his cronies.

Mombasa county employment is a cesspool of sex scandals and family favoritism, even as the Mombasa governor nurse ambitions for being President someday. There are no policies or guidelines on how to access employment opportunities. The County Service Board merely rubberstamps Joho choices.

The expected meeting was to happen a day after his main rival, Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar toured Kongowea Market, the nerve centre of small scale Kikuyu businesses, and was warmly and passionately received.

Joho had a spat with President Uhuru early this year when the President visited the market to open a footbridge.

While the Kikuyu are likely to vote for Jubilee’s Suleiman Shabhal; a change of voting to either Joho or Omar would typically turn the scales.
