Mt Elgon member of parliament was caught in the middle of a brawl at the funeral of a prominent businessman Peter Chepkoech Zablon. The legislator accused his political rivals of using proxies to take pictures and videos of him and putting them on social media to tarnish his name.
In the video, Kapondi was seen punching Mr Masuti Chemasuet, who is described as a close confidant of politician Evans Kiprotich. In his defense Kapondi said that he had already warmed Mr Chemasuet against taking photos of him while speaking at the funeral that was in Cheptais.
“All he does is taking photos without a person’s consent. I had warned him against taking my photos when I’m speaking or preparing to speak. It’s shameful for an elderly man to be taking photos to use for social media propaganda,” Kapondi said.

Kapondi has been accused of inciting clashes in the Mt Eldon region, Last year two men who were arraigned in court over clashes directly linked Kapondi to the clashes stating that he funded the clashes
