kabogoFormer Kiambu Governor, William Kabogo has hit back at his counterparts; Gatundu South MP, Moses Kuria and now Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu who have vowed to back Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 Presidential bid.

Kabogo who might join the race to state house come the next general elections, while addressing Thika town residents said that people from Central Kenya will not choose their candidate, who does not have to be Ruto.

”We are not political wheelbarrows to be pushed right, left and centre by anyone,” the former county boss said.

”We are all here to see, keep your eyes open. The game has just started.”

This is however not the first time that he (Kabogo) is taking a swipe at the DP. In June, the former Juja MP warned that Ruto might not automatically get the Mt. Kenya support.

Ruto who is set to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta has however received immense support from central Kenya supremos.

Moses Kuria on Monday maintained that the people would without fail vote for the DP as a show of gratitude.

”On behalf of the people of Mt Kenya, I want to thank you for the support you gave President Uhuru in two elections last year. We guarantee the DP Ruto our support in 2022. Our support for him is like a cheque that we have already written and signed ready for banking,” the legislator said.

The battle for the house on the hill come 2022 will be interesting, with Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi, his Mombasa counterpart Hassan Joho, Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka all eyeing the top seat.

Kabogo has in the past also hinted at making a run at the presidency.
