Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen is the new Patron of the newly-promoted Bomet APS FC.

The CS accepted a request from the Deputy Inspector Genera of Administration Police (DIG-APS) Gilbert Masengeli to be the Bomet-based club Patron after they earned a promotion to the FKF Premier League in the just-concluded season.

Founded in 2014, the club currently comprises 14 uniformed police officers and 15 civilians drawn from different parts of Kenya.
Despite being a young club, APS Bomet FC is steadily making a name for itself in the national football scene.
The club has a fervent support base and its home matches at the Bomet IAAF Stadium are usually packed.

Murkomen, while speaking at the sidelines of a graduation ceremony at the Border Police Training Campus in Kanyonyo, Kitui County, assured the players and officials of the club who were present of his and the government’s commitment to ensure the club makes an impact in the FKF Premier League.

“This team represents unity, discipline, and the untapped potential of our youth,” said Murkomen.
“We will ensure they receive the support they need, not only in football but in securing professional and employment opportunities through cadet programs and beyond.”

He promised the team the government would improve their training facilities and that he would request President William Ruto to meet them and buy them a team bus.

On their part, the team through their Chairman Bishop Fred Akama, promised the CS they will win the league in four years.
