A middle-aged man’s body has been recovered from Ngong’ River on Saturday by Nairobi County workers.

The body which was found during the cleanup of the river was discovered near Kware Ward in Embakasi South.

The youth who are employed under the Ng’arisha Jiji initiative found the body floating in the river.

According to reports, it is the fourth body found since Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko launched the cleanup initiative.

Speaking on the same, Sonko revealed that all the four bodies have been found in Ngong River at different locations.

He mentioned that the body-recovery is part of the challenges that the youth carrying out the initiative face every time.

Sonko stated: “These are some of the challenges my people have been encountering while conducting massing cleaning of Nairobi rivers.

“I have called the police from the neighborhood and they are assisting my people to remove the body from the river,” Sonko added.

The initiative was launched in 2018 by Nairobi First Lady Primrose Mbuvi to aid in keeping the city tidy.
