NASA coalition on Friday started a fundraiser meant to raise money for the presidential campaigns that officially kicked off on 6 September ending 15 October.
According to the coalition’s presidential candidate, Raila Odinga the funds raised through Mpesa paybill number 991444 would be equivalent to buying ones ticket to the promised land, Canaan.
Reports have it that the contributions being sent through the said Mpesa paybill number are instead being directed to the ‘Adopt a polling station’ initiative.
In a letter seen by Kahawa Tungu, Safaricom has questioned the move by the opposition saying that the paybill number applied for in June 2017 is not serving its purpose.

”We note that the usage of the paybill has now changed and the same being used for raising funds to adopt polling stations. This is contrary to the purpose for the paybill that you indicated when applying for the paybill,” read the letter in part.
The telecommunications company has asked the ODM officials to speedily confirm the purpose of the paybill and when the fundraiser will end.
NASA started the ‘Adopt a polling station’ initiative before the August 8 election, a move they said would help in guarding their presidential candidate’s votes.
The monies were meant to pay for agents who were supposed to be vigilant during the vote counting countrywide.
