Lawyer Nelson Havi has lost his bid to have  the experience required to vie for the Law society of Kenya president to be removed.

Justice John Mativo in his ruling said that the 15 years of practice as age limit set for those contesting LSK’s presidential post is not discriminatory.

Nelson Havi had moved to court to compel the law society of Kenya to include him in the list of those vying for the position as the he had been barred on assumption that he had not met the required amount of years of experience ti be eligible for the seat.

Justice Mativo said the court cannot interfere with the rules of an organisation.

Nelson Havi will met the required experience in June  2018 about three months after the date set for elections.

In his suit, the lawyer wanted the court to declare Section 18 (1) and Section 2 (a) of the LSK Act unconstitutional as it discriminates on the basis of age and status for the election of president, vice president and council member.
