Okoth Obado, Migori Governor, has denied claims that he rigged the ODM primaries and bought the certificate, leading to his clearance for the August election.
Social media users in popular Migori county Facebook groups have been trolling the Governor claiming he used millions of shillings to buy the ODM certificate, which they said was only a piece of paper.
But Obado said he defeated his rivals fare and square.
“Let nobody lie to you and say I stole votes. Those who stole the votes are known…they did it openly,” he said at a funeral in Suna East on Thursday.
The April 24 ODM primaries for governor were marred by irregularities and tension which saw both Obado and Ayacko declared winners by respective returning officers.
After the intervention of the ODM party leader, Raila Odinga, Obado was declared the winner leaving Ayacko in the cold.
Ayacko said Migori residents will have a chance to pick their candidate on the ballot through IEBC which is a better referee.
He said a boardroom decision led to the awarding of the certificate to his rival.
But the incumbent said Ayacko only defeated him in Awendo and Rongo “where he scored using his hands.”
“I believe [I would have won by a huge margin in those areas] had the IEBC conducted the primaries. The margin would have been as wide as the distance between heaven and earth.”
He added he will replicate his “comfortable winning formula” in the August 8 general election.
