Police in Nyando Sub-County, Kisumu County arrested a couple in connection with the brutal killing of their 15-year-old daughter.
The motive of the incident was not immediately known.
The incident was reported on April 29, 2026 by the director of a funeral, who alerted authorities after a female body with severe injuries was brought to the facility under suspicious circumstances.
Police officers from Ahero Police Station rushed to the mortuary and found the lifeless body of the Form Two student aged 15.
The body bore multiple injuries, including deep head wounds suspected to have been inflicted using a blunt object, bruises on both hands, stab wounds on both legs, a swollen left foot, and fractures on both kneecaps.
Investigators also noted the presence of mud on her stomach, suggesting possible assault at an outdoor location.
Preliminary investigations established that the deceased had been taken to the mortuary by her parents.
Acting on a tip-off, police officers swiftly tracked down and arrested the two suspects at their home in Kakola.
They are currently being held at Ahero Police Station and are expected to be arraigned in court.
The body of the deceased has been preserved at Othoo Funeral Home mortuary pending a postmortem examination.
The incident has sent shockwaves across the local community, with investigators working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the girl’s death.
Meanwhile. police in Rachuonyo East Sub-County, Homa Bay County, are investigating a suspected suicide after the body of a 67-year-old man was found floating in River Miriu.
According to police, the incident was reported on April 29, 2026, at around 1:25 p.m. The body was discovered at Kolweny Village.
Police officers visited the scene and identified the deceased as Joseph Ouma Ayugi.
Preliminary examination revealed visible injuries on the face, with blood oozing from the nose and mouth. The injuries are believed to have been caused by aquatic animals.
Investigations indicate that the deceased had been in good health until April 28, 2026, when he reportedly left his home after writing a suicide note.
His body was later discovered by neighbors, Grispine Ogweno and Nicholas Rachuonyo, floating in the river with a rope tied around his neck.
The scene was processed and documented by crime scene personnel, and the body was moved to Jawabu Funeral Home, where it awaits a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
