The National Assembly has dismissed a fake letter circulating on social media, which falsely claims that former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, Senator Edwin Sifuna, and several others have been nominated for vetting.

In a statement on Wednesday, Clerk of the National Assembly Samuel Njoroge clarified that the letter is fraudulent and misleading, emphasizing that it did not originate from Parliament or any of its authorized offices.

“The Office of the Clerk of the National Assembly has taken note of a letter circulating on various social media platforms purporting to announce the nomination of several individuals, including Prof. Makau Mutua, Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi, Ambassador Dr. Koki Muli, Hon. Edwin Sifuna, Hon. Fred Matiang’i, Mr. Muhoho Kenyatta, and Hon. Peter Munya, to unspecified positions,” Njoroge said.

He reiterated that no such nominations had been made and urged the public to disregard the document.

He further called on citizens to rely only on official communication from Parliament, which is shared through its website and verified social media pages.

“We urge members of the public to be vigilant and avoid spreading unverified information that may cause unnecessary confusion,” he added.
