Detectives from Kayole Police Station have arrested a police recruit constable accused of conning a member of the public out of Sh687,000 by falsely promising to secure a job with the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
In a statement, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the incident occurred on November 12, 2025, when the suspect, Kipkoech Isaac, allegedly claimed he could obtain an official KDF employment letter in exchange for Sh700,000.
The victim reportedly paid Sh687,000, believing the promise. However, after receiving the money, the suspect allegedly went silent and became unreachable, prompting the complainant to report the matter to the police.
Following the report, detectives launched investigations and tracked the suspect to the National Police College, Embakasi A Campus, where he was arrested.
The suspect is currently in police custody as detectives complete investigations ahead of his arraignment in court.
