Anti-narcotics officers have seized bhang worth Sh7.5 million and arrested two suspects after a dramatic car chase in Machakos County.

The two, identified as Samuel Baraza Nyongesa, 38, and Lawrence Onyango Asindi, were nabbed while transporting 250 kilograms of bhang hidden in 10 gunny bags.

They were driving a black Toyota Noah when officers acting on a tip-off intercepted them at Kitanga village.

The suspects had earlier escaped a police roadblock at Lari flyover in Kiambu County, prompting a chase that ended in Machakos.

Police confirmed the vehicle was loaded with bhang valued at approximately Sh7.5 million on the street market.

“The seizure has been detained at DCI Headquarters awaiting further processing, even as the suspects await arraignment,” the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said in a statement.
