Police are investigating an incident where at least 13 human bones were recovered from the banks of Athi River in Donyo Sabuk area, Machakos County.

The bones were probably left by hyenas marauding in the area after the body had been swept to the site, police said on Wednesday.

The discovery was made in the Syumbuni area by locals who said the bones included a jaw, hands, and skull.

The bones were moved to the mortuary pending other procedures.

In Kithimu, Embu County, one Jeremiah Ndwiga, 60 was found murdered in his farm. His family said he had gone out of their compound on January 19 and failed to return. It was until the following day when the body was found in the farm on a pathway. Police said the body had visible injuries on the head and back. The body was moved to the mortuary pending a murder probe.

Meanwhile, police in Mutuati, Meru County are investigating the fatal shooting of a man whose body was found on the roadside.

The incident happened on January 20 in the Kuka area. The deceased was identified as Ambrose Murithi, 38 and his body was found with a gunshot wound in the left ear with an exit on the forehead. The motive of the murder was not established.

Locals told police he had been called by an unknown person and when he got out he was picked up by a motorcycle. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

And police in Bomet are investigating the murder of a 23-year-old man. The deceased was identified as Victor Kipkoech. His motionless body was found near the Bomet University and moved to the local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
