Police are investigating an incident where a trainer drowned at a swimming pool of a hotel in Kabati, Kandara, Muranga County.

Moris Njoroge, 31 was conducting swimming training sessions for his colleagues at the Black Africa Hotel pool on Saturday February 28 when he drowned, police said.

The circumstances under which the drowning happened are unclear, police and witnesses said.

The deceased was a tutor at Kandara Technical College, his colleagues said.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

Police said they want to establish how and why he drowned as claimed.

In Isebania, Migori County, a police officer shot and injured himself in the leg in an incident.

The officer was armed with his pistol and was walking in the station when he slid and fell. It was as he tried to support himself when he pulled the trigger of the Steyr pistol.

The bullet hit his left leg and he was rushed to the hospital in a stable condition.

In the same area, police arrested a suspect and recovered an imitation of a Ceska pistol from him.

Police said they are investigating the recovery and if the pistol had been used in any form of robberies.

Meanwhile, police are looking for a gang that stabbed a businessman and robbed him of Sh70,000 in Gita area, Kisumu County.

Police said three men on a motorcycle and armed with a rifle confronted the victim and stabbed him in the back as they struggled to get a bag that contained the cash. The gang also shot to the air three times as they sped off from the scene in the Saturday incident.

The victim was taken to the hospital in a stable condition.
