    Prof. Clara Momanyi Appointed Chair of KU Council

    Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba has appointed renowned Kiswahili scholar, writer, and academic Prof. Clara Samiji Momanyi as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenyatta University Council.

    The appointment was announced through a gazette notice dated December 19, 2025. Prof. Momanyi will serve a three-year term. The notice also confirmed the revocation of Dr. Ben Chumo’s previous appointment to the position.

    Prof. Momanyi is a distinguished Kenyan scholar, author, translator, and academic, celebrated for her contributions to Kiswahili literature, language studies, and gender research. She is recognized internationally as an expert in Kiswahili and African Studies, with numerous publications to her name.

    The appointment comes at a time when Kenyatta University has announced the search for a new Vice Chancellor.
