Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration, Dr. Raymond Omollo, has called on political leaders across the country to embrace unity and collaboration, saying cohesive leadership is key to promoting peace, accelerating development, and strengthening social cohesion.
Speaking during a church service and fundraising event at Ogwedhi Seventh-day Adventist Church in Suna East Constituency, Migori County, Dr. Omollo said the unity demonstrated by leaders directly influences communities and creates an enabling environment for development.
“Today’s sermon spoke powerfully about unity. When leaders are united, the people become united. When leaders work together, communities prosper. Our churches become stronger, our institutions become stronger, and development reaches the people more effectively,” he said.
The Principal Secretary urged leaders to rise above political differences and prioritize initiatives that improve the welfare of wananchi, particularly in regions that have historically experienced development challenges.
He commended the spirit of cooperation displayed by leaders from Migori, Homa Bay and neighbouring counties who attended the event, noting that such collaboration reflects inclusivity and a shared commitment to national progress.
Dr. Omollo reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to equitable development through continued investment in infrastructure, education, healthcare and public service delivery. He said the Kenya Kwanza administration is implementing targeted interventions to address historical disparities and ensure no region is left behind.
The PS highlighted ongoing efforts to decentralize government services through the establishment and operationalisation of new administrative units, including locations, sub-locations and divisions, aimed at improving service delivery and strengthening the Government’s presence at the grassroots.
“We have gazetted several administrative units across the country to ensure wananchi can access government services more easily. We will continue recruiting and deploying officers to strengthen administration and improve service delivery at the local level,” he said.
He also appealed to communities to support the Government by identifying men and women of integrity to serve as Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs in the newly created administrative units.
On development, Dr. Omollo said the Government is investing heavily in roads, schools, educational infrastructure and other public services to improve livelihoods and create opportunities for future generations.
He further urged Migori residents to register for the Social Health Authority (SHA) programme, noting that although the county has made progress in enrolment, more residents need to sign up to fully benefit from Universal Health Coverage.
The Principal Secretary also praised churches for their role in promoting moral values, peace and social transformation, describing places of worship as vital partners in nation-building.
The event brought together national and county leaders, church officials and members of the local community, who pledged support towards completing the church’s construction project.
Among those in attendance were Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi, Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko, Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwuor (Jalang’o), Uriri MP Mark Nyamita, Tom Odege, Walter Owino and Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma.
