Two pupils from Magire Primary School in Kericho County were on Wednesday arraigned in court for alleged murder of their colleague.

The two are linked to the killing of Shadrack Rono, a Class 7 pupil in their school.

The minors who were presented before Resident Magistrate Elizabeth Karani, did not take plea as police requested more time to dig into the incident.

Magistrate Karani gave the police three more days, further, directing the pupils be detained in a special jail cell for minors at Fort-Tenan Police Station.

Circumstances that led to the killing of the minor remain unclear.

Last year, 16-year-old Elijah Kipyegon Langat, then pupil at Chebigen primary school in Ainamoi constituency, killed a fellow teenager over a fatal fight over a phone ownership.

Kericho County Police Commander James Mugera, confirmed the incident saying, 18-year-old Victor Kipkurui Kemboi succumbed to injuries at Siloam hospital where he had been rushed for treatment.

Police later arrested Langat in his hide out.

“The two young men had a quarrel over the ownership of a mobile phone leading to the suspect taking out a knife and stabbed the deceased on the left side of the chest,” the police boss said.
