Radio personality Nancy Omweri has threatened to sue blogger Edgar Obare for defamation, accusing him of publishing false and malicious allegations linking her romantically to a former Cabinet Secretary.

In a demand letter dated October 13, Omweri, through her lawyer Danstan Omari accuses Obare of giving a platform to his followers on his Instagram page BNN Basic and Telegram channel to post damaging and unfounded claims about her personal life.

The letter cites a post shared on October 6, 2025 that allegedly suggested she had a child with the former Cabinet Secretary.

According to the letter, the publications which included Omweri’s photograph attracted numerous comments and shares, causing her “mental and psychological anguish” and tarnishing her reputation among colleagues, family, and the public.

Omari claims the posts portrayed her as “a woman of loose morals” and “devoid of integrity,”

She’s now demanding that Obare pays Sh10 million in damages, issues a public apology, and retracts all defamatory posts within seven days.

“That failure to comply with the above demands within seven (7) days from receipt of this letter will result in our firm receiving irrevocable instructions to pursue all legal remedies available to protect our client’s reputation, including but not limited to instituting legal proceedings against you at your own expense,” says Omari

“Furthermore, TAKE NOTICE that you are hereby formally warned against disseminating this notice to any third party, save for your legal counsel.”

Omweri, described in the letter as a well-known journalist, says she is prepared to challenge Obare to produce evidence of his claims in court.
