A Nairobi court on Tuesday imprisoned a retired teacher for 15 years for defiling three school girls.

The Star reported that Moby Odoyo, an English and Mathematics, is said to have committed the crime between March and June 2010.

Despite denying all charges leveled against him, Makadara Senior principal Magistrate Angelo Kithinji found Odoyo guilty of defiling the minors at a Mathare school where he was a teacher.

“Bearing in mind your health status and old age, I sentence you to 15 years in prison for each count to be served concurrently,” said Kithinji.

The geriatric is said to have used sponsorship as a bait to lure the young girls to his antics – He promised to introduce them to an organisation that helps orphans.

In one incident as narrated by the prosecution, the retiree left school with a 14-year old girl claiming he was taking her to meet a sponsor.

He then took her to his brother’s house where he is accused of grabbing her, stuffing her mouth before defiling her.

After the incident, Odoyo warned her of reporting the act to anyone. Months later after realizing she was pregnant and getting rid of the pregnancy, she narrated the ordeal to a female teacher.

Odoyo is further accused of defiling another girl on June, 11, 2010. The prosecution told the court that in many instances the teacher asked the young girls in question to meet him with a dress under their official school uniform.

He is accused of threatening some with a knife if they reported him.

However, its after guardians raised questions to the school head on why their daughters reported home late that the matter came to be known.

“I asked another teacher to interrogate the pupils, who opened up and told us what had happened,” the school head told the court.

After the young girls were interrogated, they spilled the beans leading to the arrest of Odoyo by officers from Muthaiga police station.

Consequently, charges were opened against Odoyo.
