
Pope Francis has appointed Rev. Philip Anyolo who doubles as chairman of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB), as Archbishop of Kisumu.
The announcement was officially published in L’Osservatore Romano in Rome on Thursday, November 15, 2018.
Rev. Philip Anyolo takes over from Archbishop Zacchaeus Okoth who has served since 1990 and has since attained the Archbishop retirement age.
Bishop Anyolo is the current Bishop of Homabay, a post he has served in since May 2003.

He was first appointed as Bishop of Kericho by Pope John Paul II in 1995 and was later appointed as Apostolic Administrator of Homa Bay upon the resignation of Rt. Rev. Linus Okok Okwach.
He has been serving as the chairman of Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) since 2013 and is currently on his second term.
