Ex Sports Principal Secretary Richard Ekai has been arrested by DCI as heads begin rolling over misuse of Sh55 million meant for the 2016 Rio Summer Olympic games.
Ekai is among those DPP Noordin Haji ordered for their prosecution over the misappropriation of funds.
Former sports CS Hassan Wario has been given 24 hours to present himself at the DCI offices.
Others facing six counts of abuse of office and 4 counts of willful failure to comply with laws relating to the management of public funds contrary to the Anti-Corruption and Economics Crimes Act are; former National Olympics Committee of Kenya (NOCK) Chairman Kipchoge Keino and Head of Delegation Stephen Soi.
Harun Komen (Former Director of Administration, Ministry of Sports, Culture and the Arts), Francis Kanyili (Former Secretary General, NOCK), and Patrick Kimathi (Former Finance Officer, Ministry of Sports, Culture and the Arts) have till Monday, October 15 to present themselves at the DCI offices.
They are said to have purchased air tickets which were not utilized amounting to Sh16.8 million, incurring expenditure on unauthorized persons amounting to Sh6.5 million, over-payment of allowances amounting to Sh15.9 and embezzling funds totaling to Sh22.4 million.
