Kenya Simbas went down 36-5 to Romania in a pre-repechage friendly match played in Bucharest on Saturday November 3, 2018.
Romania ran in five tries in the first half which included a penalty try to lead 29-5 before adding one more two minutes into the second half. Winger Willy Ambaka scored Kenya’s unconverted try.
The match will have no effect on ranking as it was not a full test with Romania featuring the A side.
Kenya was using the match against Romania A as a warm-up for repechage tournament that kicks-off next Sunday in France. Germany, Canada and Hong Kong are the other teams taking part in the round robin repechage to be played in a span of three weeks.
Germany played a friendly match last weekend where they drew 29-29 with Portugal, Canada beat Oxford 25-20 while Hong Kong fell 24-28 to Dragons from Wales.
Repechage is a last chance qualification for 2019 Rugby World Cup with the winner set to grab the last slot at the Japan 2019 showpiece.
