Safaricom’s director of Financial Services, Ron Webb, has left the company in a shock exit surprising both employees and shareholders.

According to a letter sent to the company’s staff by the CEO, Ron Webb’s last day at work is today. He has apparently spent 18 years in Kenya working with different companies. He was formerly with Equity Bank and Paynet which operates the Pesapoint services.

The departure of Webb is said to be because of family reasons as he has indicated to Safaricom management and board that he thinks that his family which is in UK really wants to be closer to him.

Sources at Safaricom have indicated that this is one of the most amicable and smooth separation they have ever had in the senior management. Others have not been so easy.
