Samuel Larsen, born on August 28, 1991, in San Francisco, California, is an American actor, singer, and model who has made a name for himself in the entertainment industry.
With a mixed heritage—his father, Henrik Larsen, hailing from Denmark, and his mother, Lupe Acosta Larsen, from Mexico—Samuel grew up in a culturally rich household.
His passion for music emerged early, as he began playing instruments like the drums, guitar, bass, and keyboards as a young boy.
Samuel graduated from Murrieta Valley High School in 2009, where he was already honing his musical talents as part of the school band 15 North.
Siblings
Samuel has two siblings, an older brother named Manolo Acosta Larsen and an older sister named Morgan Larsen.
While Samuel has often been in the spotlight due to his public career, details about Manolo and Morgan remain relatively private.
Growing up in San Francisco and later moving to Murrieta, California, the Larsen siblings were raised in a supportive environment that nurtured Samuel’s artistic inclinations.
Career
Samuel’s first brush with fame came in 2010 when he auditioned for the ninth season of American Idol.
Although he made it to Hollywood Week, he was eliminated before reaching the semi-finals.
Undeterred, Samuel continued to chase his dreams, dabbling in runway modeling for designer Ashton Michael.

It was during one of these shows that he met Skip Arnold, with whom he later formed the band Bridges I Burn alongside Salvatore Spinelli.
His big break arrived in 2011 when he won the first season of The Glee Project, a reality competition on the Oxygen network.
This victory earned him a recurring role as Joe Hart, a formerly home-schooled Christian, on the hit Fox series Glee.
Debuting in the third season’s episode “Heart,” Samuel performed in songs like Gym Class Heroes’ “Stereo Hearts” and a mashup of “Cherish” by The Association and Madonna.
Originally slated for seven episodes, his popularity led to appearances in all ten final episodes of season three, 12 episodes in season four, and two in the sixth and final season.
He also returned as a mentor for The Glee Project’s second season.
Beyond Glee, Samuel has pursued acting in films such as The Breakup Girl (2015), Recovery (2016), and most notably, After (2019) and its sequel After We Collided (2020), where he played Zed Evans.
Concurrently, he has focused on his music career, releasing his debut EP, Vices, in 2014, and touring with the rock band Palaye Royale in 2017 and 2018.
Signed to Roc Nation, Samuel continues to craft his solo music, blending his early influences—like Michael Jackson—with his unique style.
Accolades
Samuel’s role in Glee earned him a nomination for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series in 2013, alongside the show’s talented cast.
Winning The Glee Project in 2011 remains a defining achievement, catapulting him into the public eye and securing his place in television history.
