    Scott Grimes is a multifaceted American talent known for his work as an actor, voice artist, singer, and songwriter.

    Raised in Dracut, Massachusetts, after living in Albuquerque, New Mexico, until age 10, Grimes displayed an early passion for the performing arts.

    Discovered for his singing talent on a Boston-based talent show, Community Auditions, hosted by radio personality Dave Maynard, Grimes began acting at age 13.

    His career has since flourished, encompassing iconic roles in television, voice acting, and a successful music career.

    Known for his distinctive red hair, warm demeanor, and versatile talent, Grimes has become a beloved figure in entertainment.

    Scott has one sibling, a sister named Heather Grimes, who is also an actress.

    Heather has pursued a career in acting, though her work has been less prominent than her brother’s.

    Career

    Grimes made his acting debut in 1984 at age 13, co-starring with Mickey Rooney in the made-for-TV holiday movie It Came Upon the Midnight Clear.

    That same year, he appeared in The Night They Saved Christmas and A Doctor’s Story.

    His early television roles included a 1985 episode of The Twilight Zone titled “Little Boy Lost” and a recurring role as Chad McCann on Who’s the Boss? in 1986–1987.

    Grimes gained wider recognition for his role as Will McCorkle in the teen drama Party of Five (1994–2000).

    He further showcased his dramatic chops as Technical Sergeant Donald Malarkey in HBO’s Band of Brothers (2001), earning praise for his authentic portrayal.

    From 2003 to 2009, he played Dr. Archie Morris on ER, transitioning from a recurring role to a series regular.

    Since 2017, Grimes has portrayed the cocky yet lovable Lieutenant Gordon Malloy on The Orville, a sci-fi comedy-drama created by Seth MacFarlane.

    As a voice actor, Grimes is best known for voicing Steve Smith on American Dad! (2005–present) and Kevin Swanson on Family Guy (2011–2020).

    His film credits include cult classics like Critters (1986) and Critters 2: The Main Course (1988), as well as major productions such as Crimson Tide (1995), Mystery, Alaska (1999), Robin Hood (2010), and Oppenheimer (2023).

    Parallel to his acting, Grimes has pursued a music career.

    In 1986, he performed “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” on a Bob Hope TV special in Sweden, attended by King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia.

    His debut album, Scott Grimes (1989), was produced by Richard Carpenter of The Carpenters.

    Grimes released subsequent albums, Livin’ on the Run (2005) and Drive (2010), with his single “Sunset Blvd” reaching number 18 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart in 2005.

    He also performs with the band Scott Grimes and the Misdemeanors and is a member of Russell Crowe’s Indoor Garden Party.
