Several people have been arrested in different parts of the country as police stepped up efforts to curb drug trafficking.
On Monday, December 8, 2025, police in Nyeri County said they intensified operations to protect the community from illegal drugs. Acting on intelligence, officers from Nyeri Police Station raided a residential house in the Transformer area of Mathari.
Two suspects were arrested during the operation. Police recovered 40 sachets of heroin, about 100 grams of cannabis (bhang) and rolling papers. The items were seized as exhibits for court.
Police said the suspects are being held in custody as investigations continue to identify other people involved in the drug supply network.
Over the weekend, officers from Thika Police Station carried out a similar operation in Majengo area, Thika, where one suspect was arrested. During the raid, police recovered 33 rolls and 26 sachets of bhang. The suspect is in custody awaiting arraignment.
In another incident, officers from Kiugoine Police Station arrested two people in the Makao area of Kiamaina Ward. The suspects were found with 38 rolls of cannabis sativa.
The two were taken to the police station and are awaiting court appearance.
