300 SGR workers finally received their contracts after they threatened to down their tools. The contracts were supposed to be issued in April.
The contracts issued were for only one year but are said to be renewable.
One of the contract stated that a welder would be paid Sh.84 per hour however holidays time off,vacation and other benefits would be in accordance to the company policy, the Business daily quoted a section of the contract.

The workers had protested earlier in August over delay of salaries which their employers China Roads and Bridges Corporation had blamed on the refurbishment of the payment systems and review of bank accounts for staff hired in previous months.
