Nairobi County Governor, Mike Sonko cannot stay away from controversy. He is said to have forcefully made his way into Joseph Lenguris’ home, accompanied by his ‘goons’.
Lenguris, who owns a seven bedroom mansion in Mtwapa, accused the county boss of opening fire at them on January 12, 2018 at the wee hours of the morning.
He told NTV that he has been in a land dispute with Sonko’s cousin, Caroline Mwandiko, who he says purchased the 3.5 acre plot but is yet to pay Sh23 million in full.
The governor’s guards, he recounts shot in the air forcing them to scamper for safety before ejecting them from their home in the middle of the night.
The county boss apparently sat back and watched as his goons harassed Lenguris and his family, who are no longer interested in selling the property.
Sonko refuted the claims saying that he was only there to rescue his nephew who had been locked out of the property by armed men.

Backing up his claims was Mtawapa OCPD Joseph Kariuki who denied there being any gun shots.
”The governor was in that area because that is his relative. The relative is outside in Germany. His nephew had been denied access to the premises and that is why he was there. The incident you are talking about the shooting we are not aware of as there is no evidence,” Mr Kariuki said.
