A 30-year-old man surrendered to police and confessed to participating in the murder of Robert Ohuru Omwombo in Etago, Kisii County.

The suspect, a resident of Kenoria Village in Muma Sub-location, presented himself at Nyamaiya Police Station on Thursday morning.

Police said he confessed to having participated in the murder of Omwombo, which was reported on August 31, 2026.

He was booked at the station and placed in custody pending collection by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Etago, who are expected to take over the investigation.

The circumstances surrounding the murder and the suspect’s alleged role remain under investigation.

Meanwhile, police in Oyugis, Homa Bay County, are searching for two men accused of fatally assaulting a 26-year-old carpenter following a road accident involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian.

The deceased, Junior Willis Ager, was riding on a motorcycle with his brother from Oyugis town towards their home shortly after midnight on Thursday when they were involved in an accident with a pedestrian at Ayoro Bridge.

According to police, two men who responded to the scene allegedly threatened the brothers. Junior reportedly fled on foot, but the two men pursued him for about 500 metres to Mithui Junction, where they caught up with him and allegedly assaulted him.

Good Samaritans rescued Ager and rushed him to Matata Nursing Home in Oyugis, where he died at about 6am while receiving treatment.

Police officers visited the accident and assault scenes and the mortuary, where they found the body with blood oozing from the nose and mouth.

The scene was processed and documented, while the body was preserved at the facility pending an autopsy.

The suspects both from Kokal Sub-location, reportedly fled after the assault and remain at large.

Police have launched a manhunt for the two suspects.
