Airgate Centre, formerly known as Taj Mall owner Ramesh Gorasia is unhappy about the ongoing demolition of his property.
Gorasia wants the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to investigate county officials who approved the construction of the mall.
According to the businessman, he followed the right procedures before constructing what is now in rumbles. In fact, he says, he got the approvals in 1995 and has renewed them sven times over.
“They gave approvals based on the title deed which was genuine and the land rates which were all paid,” he said.
But the National Lands Commission (NLC) last week revoked the title deed saying that the property sits on public land.
“All I will say is that it is wrong to demolish this mall that people purportedly say was built on a road reserve,” he told reporters.
On August 16 Mr Gorasia dared the government to bring down the building as he was tired of constant threats from authorities that have seen him lose close to Sh3 billion in rentals.
“If you want to demolish this building do it, I don’t care, I am tired of hearing about its demolition now for over five years,” he said.
