A three-year-old boy has died after accidentally falling into a partially open septic tank while playing at his home in Manyani, Junda, Kisauni Sub-county, Mombasa County.

According to police, the incident occurred on Monday when the child was playing with other children in the family compound. He reportedly fell into the partially uncovered septic pit.

With the assistance of members of the public, the child was retrieved from the septic tank and rushed to the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital in critical condition.

However, he was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Police said the cause of death was drowning.

The body was moved to the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

Police have documented the incident as investigations continue.

And a 43-year-old man died after falling down a flight of stairs following an altercation at an entertainment venue in Mwingi Town, Kitui County.

According to police, the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday at Club Rao, located on the first floor of the Club 2000 building, where patrons had gathered to watch World Cup football matches.

Police said an altercation broke out among revellers, prompting two patrons to escort the man, who was reportedly intoxicated, out of the premises in an effort to calm the situation.

As he descended the staircase, Geoffrey Moseti allegedly missed a step, tumbled down the stairs and landed on the basement floor.

He was rushed to Mwingi Level IV Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police officers who visited both the scene and the hospital found the deceased with a forehead injury. Crime scene investigators processed the scene before the body was moved to the hospital mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.

Four revellers who were with the deceased at the time of the incident were detained at Mwingi Police Station to assist investigators as inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death continue.
