Closed TV Stations To Remain Off-air Pending Investigations – Matiang’i

matiang'i

matiang'iInterior CS Fred Matiang’i has said that television stations switched off on Tuesday will remain closed until investigations on certain individuals are complete.

Speaking outside Harambee House, the CS stated that the switching off of the TVs and withdrawing of police from Uhuru Park was as a result of the government receiving intelligence of a planned ‘massacre’ that would have been blamed on the police and propelled by the live coverage.

He also warned individuals involved in Raila Odinga’s swearing in saying that they would face the full force of the law.

The ‘oath’ taking was a subversive act disguised as a political act, the CS has said, adding that the individuals will be ‘sorry they tried it.’

”What was witnessed at Uhuru Park was a well choreographed attempt to subvert or overthrow the legally constituted government of Kenya,” he said.

The Communications Authority on Tuesday switched off NTV, Citizen TV and KTN.
