Tragedy struck a family in Nyakach, Kisumu County after a house wall collapsed on three children as they slept, killing two of them instantly.

The incident occurred on April 11, 2026, in the Kariobangi area of Sondu town, within Nyakach Sub-County.

According to police at Ogoro Police Station, the wall of the house caved in during the night, trapping the children inside.

Two of the children aged four and five died on the spot following the collapse.

A third child aged 9, survived but sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Bahati Private Clinic, where she remains in critical condition.

Police said the children’s parents were not in the house at the time of the incident.

The cause of the wall collapse has not yet been established, with investigators launching inquiries to determine whether structural weaknesses or other factors may have contributed to the tragedy.

The bodies of the two deceased children have been moved to Bethlehem Mortuary, where they await post-mortem examination.

    Authorities say investigations are ongoing.

And police in Nairobi have arrested a 35-year-old man accused of brutally killing his bedridden mother in the Eastleigh area.

The incident occurred on the evening of April 10, 2026, at a residence in GSP Tower along Gitondo Lane, between First and Second Avenue.

The suspect is alleged to have attacked his 60-year-old mother, Amina Abshir Mohamed, who was reportedly stroke-paralysed and confined to her bed.

Police say the suspect used a fork to stab his mother multiple times in the neck while she lay helpless, leading to her death.

Officers visited the scene and documented the incident, with crime scene investigators from Starehe processing the area.

The suspect was arrested shortly after the attack and is currently in police custody pending further action.

The body of the deceased was moved to Alamin Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

Police have indicated that the suspect is believed to be mentally ill, and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
