Two people, including a man aged 84, died from electrocution while trying to connect a Wifi cable in a village in Sengera, Kisii County.
Police said the incident happened on Sunday night and that they were looking for the assailant.
Police said one Joseph Mosoti was the first one to be electrocuted in the incident as he tried to connect a wifi cable to his house.
The cable had been connected from a Kenya Power and Lighting pole in the area and outside his house.
The cable had apparently been connected to live wires that caused the electrocution.
Witnesses said a neighbour identified as Esther Oirere, 60 and oblivious of the dangers lying ahead rushed to the rescue of the old man.
She was also electrocuted and died on the spot, police said.
Police and Kenya Power officials were called to the scene and collected the bodies to the mortuary for autopsy.
The officials said they were investigating the incident. This is the latest such incident to happen and is blamed on illegal connection or use of quacks for wiring.
