    Two men drown while taking selfie at notorious Ragia Waterfalls

    Two men aged 20 and 17 slipped and drowned in a waterfall in Nyandarua as they took a selfie at a notorious site.

    Witnesses and police said the two were at Ragia Water Falls in the Njabini area on January 2, 2026 when the incident happened.

    They were part of a group of 11 youth from Rwanyambo Catholic Church who had gone for a hiking mission at Ragia Water Falls.

    They had gone to the site for a selfie using their mobile phones when they accidentally slipped and drowned therein.

    The search and recovery of the bodies was pushed to Saturday and Sunday when they were retrieved by divers.

    A crowd gathered at the scene to witness the retrieval of the bodies.

    And a man was electrocuted while attempting to steal from a house in Nyalenda, Kisumu County.

    Police said the deceased had disconnected a hoofer in the house and was disconnecting other electronic gadgets when he was electrocuted in the house.

    His body was found lying in the house with a live electric wire in his mouth. The owners of the house had left for the Christmas holidays. They left the house locked when the victims broke in for the mission of stealing.

    The body was picked up to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures, police said of the January 3, 2026 incident.

    At the Mombasa Airport, an attendant was electrocuted by a conveyor belt. Police said Jimmy Kitavi was on duty when he was electrocuted by the belt on January 2, 2026. He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to the injuries. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures. Police said they are investigating the incident with an aim of taking action.
