Two pupils of a primary school were killed after falling stones hit them within their compound in Kayole, Nairobi.

Two others were rushed to hospital with multiple injuries following the incident at the Emmanuel New Life Academy Nyaura.

The stones dropped from a high rise building under construction and near the school.

Witnesses and police said the victims were washing their hands at a tap within the compound and next to the building under construction when the stones dropped past midday on October 6, 2025.

The stones hit four pupils who were in PP2 killing two of them.

Witnesses and police described the scene as horrible as their heartbroken parents rushed there hoping to find them alive.

The children were rushed to the hospital where the two were confirmed dead on arrival, police said.
The other two were admitted in hospital waiting to be transferred to the Kenyatta National Hospital.
They were in critical condition, police and doctors at Mama Lucy Hospital said.

Police visited the scene and announced they are investigating the tragedy. Tension rose in the area with locals demanding action on the developer.

The bodies of the minors were moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other investigations.
Such death incidents have been common at construction sites in urban areas. Some workers are killed at the sites after falling off of being hit by falling stones.

Lack of protection gear and proper enforcement has been blamed for the incidents amid calls for more measures to ensure safety at large.
