Detectives are pursuing a gang that attacked two women and robbed them of Sh632,000 moments after they had left a bank in Kipsitet area, Kericho County.

The women are officials of the Hope Women Group in the Koitaburot area. They told police they had on Wednesday December 10, 2025 gone to KCB Muhoroni branch and withdrew the cash for use by the women group.

They then boarded a salon car and on reaching the border of the Koguta/Koitaburot area their car was blocked by another four-wheel drive one.

They said three men alighted while wearing yellow reflectors and ordered them to get out of the car while posing as if they were armed.

The men handcuffed the driver and bundled him out of the car as they grabbed the women’s bags that contained the money.

They then drove from the scene after the 3 pm drama. Police were informed and visited the scene as part of the probe. No arrest or recovery had been made by Thursday, police said amid a hunt on the gang.

The police suspect the attackers had prior information on the women’s movements and planned withdrawal of the cash.

Such cases have been on the rise amid efforts to address them.

On Tuesday, two suspects were shot and killed in Nairobi after attacking and robbing a man of Sh300,000 moments after he had left a bank along Kimathi Street. The men were chased and fatally shot by police along Moi Avenue in a dramatic incident.

Meanwhile, an unknown number of thieves broke into a store in Sarman, Tarbaj, Wajir County and stole more than 300 mattresses, 1,000 blankets, ten cartons of sanitary pads, 20 cartons of bar soap and two generators.

Police said the valuables had been brought by the area woman representative on December 7 for distribution to the locals.

The police said the suspected thieves broke the padlock to the store which is within the local chief’s office and made away with the valuables.

Police said they were pursuing the gang behind the incident.
