    Two-year-old boy dies after being kicked by donkey in Kisumu

    A two-year-old boy died after being kicked by a donkey in a village in Nyando, Kisumu County.

    Police said the incident happened in East Kano’s Olasi village as the boy passed near a donkey at their grandfather’s homestead.

    The animal hit him in the chest, flooring him. He died while being taken to a local hospital.

    Police were informed and helped the family to move the body to the mortuary pending other procedures.

    Police said they are investigating the tragedy.

    Elsewhere, a Ugandan national was hit and killed in a fight with another man over a woman in Yala area, Siaya County.

    Police said John Ingunze, 38 had argued with an assailant over a woman before he was hit in the head. The assailant used a piece of wood to hit him in the head and escaped the scene at Anyiko Market.

    The deceased was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to the injuries.

    In Ekerenyo, Nyamira County, one Victor Osoro, 41 was found dead on a footpath after he had been attacked by a mob.

    The victim was accused of stealing from a home before an alarm was raised alerting a mob who stoned him to death.

    The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and probe.

    Police said they are investigating murder.

    Meanwhile, 16 people were killed in separate road accidents in the country on New Year’s Day.

    Police said the victims included eight pedestrians, six riders, a passenger and a pillion passenger.

    The accidents also left 33 people with serious injuries and they included 15 passengers, six riders and six pillion passengers and five passengers.

    The injured are nursing wounds in the hospital. Police said the accidents are many and causing pain to many families. The families are left managing bills. There is a campaign to address the menace.
