A Ugandan man was arrested after he told a motorist who had offered him a lift to Nairobi he killed his wife in a domestic quarrel in Uganda.

He said the incident happened in Lwakhakha village, which borders Kenya and Uganda.

The 42-year-old man had flagged down a motorist on Monday night in Gilgil area on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway and sought to be offered a lift to Nairobi.

Midway between Gilgil and Naivasha he opened up to the driver saying he had killed his wife and was on the run to Nairobi.

Stunned by the confessions, the driver drove to the Naivasha police station, where he handed over the suspect to the police.

The suspect was arrested and placed in lawful custody, pending transportation and arraignment in the court where the offense was committed, police said after also interrogating the man.

Police said they are yet to establish the motive of the murder and confession.

Meanwhile, a body of a man was found floating on River Nzoia in Sumba Sub Location, Siaya County.

The body was later retrieved and taken to a local mortuary pending identification and autopsy.

The cause of the death is yet to be known, police said adding the body had decomposed.

In Taita Taveta’s Ziwa La Ngombe village, form two student died by suicide.

The body was found hanging in the roof truss of his parents’ house long after he had died.

He used a manila rope that was tied around his neck, police said.

He was a form two student at Mwanenyi Secondary School, police said adding a suicide note was recovered.

The body was moved to Moi County Referral Hospital Morgue in Voi, pending an autopsy.

Cases of suicide have been on the rise in the country amid efforts to address the menace.

Most of the victims are men, police statistics show.
