Western Kenya leaders are threatening to leave the ruling party, Jubilee should President Uhuru Kenyatta not retain Cabinet Secretary for Water, Eugene Wamalwa.

Didimus Barasa, MP Kimilili says he will lead legislators from Bungoma and Trans Nzoia counties to defecting to the opposition,NASA.

Speaking to the Standard, Barasa said that the Western people got a raw deal even with the House leadership positions.

”CS Wamalwa was the face of Jubilee in Bungoma and Trans-Nzoia Counties. Kicking him out has eroded the gains Jubilee had made in the region. We shall have no business remaining in Jubilee after the ouster of our team leader Wamalwa,” he complained.

Those eyeing house leadership positions, he says were shortchanged even after lobbying.

”We tried to lobby during the Parliamentary Group meeting for some of our members to lead the committees in vain. We instead ended up being duped and shortchanged by our colleagues,” he added.

But it is not just the Luhya nation that feels used and dumped by the Jubilee government; West Pokot people too want a piece of the cake.

Led by former Lomut ward representative, Musa Tekelezi, the people have accused the government of leaving them out yet they supported him in the August and October elections.

”We don’t want principal secretaries only. We also want full Cabinet positions. We need to have someone to represent us in government because we have been marginalised for a long time,” Mr Tekelezi said.

The President who allegedly named the cabinet without his Deputy’s approval is yet to appoint at least 13 members to his 22 member cabinet.

Speaking in Meru, the head of state rubbished split talk over cabinet slots.

”Like William (Ruto) has said the politics that we want is that of development. We are working well but people are trying to create stories but this will not distract us. We want the Church leaders to work together regardless of distractions like I’m working with William,” the President said.

The duo will according to sources name the rest of the cabinet sometime this week and bring to an end the endless speculation around who will make the cut.
