    UN Bars Employees From Using Boeing 737-8 MAX Airplanes

    The United Nations (UN) has issued a notice instructing their employing not to fly in Boeing 737-8 MAX planes.

    The notice comes days after an Ethiopian Airline plane of the Boeing 737-8 MAX make crashed on Sunday, which led to the death of 21 of their employees.

    In a statement seen by Kahawa Tungu, the Department of Safety and Security in the Office of the Under-Secretary General implored their employees not to use the airplane until when the cause of the crash will be established.

    The notice reads: “The horrific loss of Ethiopian Airline ET302 on 10 March 2019 took the live of 21 United Nations (UN) staff members.

    “This is the second aircraft crash on the same aircraft type, the Boeing 737 Max 8, in less than 6 months,” the UN stated.

    The UNDSS recommended that official UN staff travel should not be conducted using the Boeing 737 MAX-series aircraft (Max 7, Max 8, and Max 9).

    “UN travel units should be advised that UN staff should not be booked or ticketed using the Boeing 737 MAX-series aircraft, until further notice,” the notice concluded.

    The notice was directed to all designated officials, all security focal points and alternate security, all chief security officers and deputy chief security officers.
