While the current substantive CEO of Safaricom Bob Collymore is bedridden somewhere in London and fighting accusations of abuse of office, sexual assaults and corruption, Vodafone Ghana CEO Yolanda Zoleka Cuba is likely to be the successor.

It is emerging that Safaricom board has conducted more than 5 interviews with other candidates being the current Head of Consumer Business Sylvia Mulinge, Head of Enterprise Unit Rita Okuthe, Head of Corporate Affairs Steve Chege, Vodafone Ghana’s Yolanda Zoleka and the current acting CEO Sateesh Kamath.

Sylvia emerged as having more problems touching on accountability, abuse of office and now criminal after he was ordered charged with causing death of a pedestrian. She is also reported to have been greatly involved in some of the underhand deals like that which saw his associates at Saracen win the Blaze contract.

Steve Chege was thought by the board to be too inexperienced in handling Safaricom’s governance structure while Rita Okuthe and Sateesh Kamath emerged second and third respectively.
