waiguruKirinyaga Governor, Anne Waiguru is on the spot once again after a section of Kirinyaga leaders questioned the manner in which Sh51.9 million meant to campaign for President Uhuru Kenyatta during the repeat polls was spent.

The money was contributed by elected leaders and professionals from the county, who now want the money accounted for.

They say that there were very few campaign activities in the area, to have spent the whole amount in such a short period of time.

”We want to be told where much of the cash went because only vehicles were branded and few campaign roadshows conducted. This is a scandal,” Peter Kariuki told Nairobi News.

Mr Ephraim Warui said he was surprised that the money was spent, not leaving a cent yet there was no major political rally held in Kirinyaga.

”I was involved in the campaigns and I doubt that all the money was spent for the intended purpose,” he said.

Majority leader in the County Assembly, Murango Kamau insisted that the money was transparently invested but maintained that his committee received only Sh11 Million.

”I only know of Sh11 million and and I can clearly account for it. I think the difference was a pledge by MCAs, MPs and Professionals,” he said.

The Sh51.9 million was according to the former devolution CS, contributed in a record two days for the head of state.

The money she said would be used to drum up support for President Kenyatta.

”We are taking this campaign very seriously and every resident should know that. We have sacrificed ourselves to raise this amount because we want the campaigns for our President in this region to be successful,” Ms Waiguru said.
