The immigration office has stated that the reason behind the seizure of the passports of Jimmy Wanjigi and Siaya senator James Orengo was that at the time of their arrival at the airport the immigration department had not been served with a court order staying the suspension.

The innigration office said that they only heard of the court orders from the media and had not received the actual documents

According to Major general Gordon Kihalangwa the passports had been legally suspended and the suspension was still in force at the time of their arrival at the airport.
